The Rosary is a powerful prayer that consists of a series of prayers and meditations on the life of Jesus and Mary, structured around the recitation of specific prayers and the contemplation of various mysteries.
Structure of the Rosary
The Rosary is traditionally divided into five decades, each consisting of ten Hail Marys, and is accompanied by specific prayers. Here’s how to pray the Rosary:
Make the Sign of the Cross: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Apostle's Creed: Recite the Apostle's Creed to affirm your faith.
Our Father: Pray the Our Father once before each decade.
Hail Mary: Pray ten Hail Marys while meditating on the mystery of the decade.
Glory Be: After the ten Hail Marys, pray the Glory Be.
Fatima Prayer: Optionally, you can add the Fatima Prayer after the Glory Be.
Next Mystery: Announce the next mystery and repeat the process for the remaining decades.
Mysteries of the Rosary
The Rosary includes four sets of mysteries, each reflecting significant events in the lives of Jesus and Mary:
Joyful Mysteries (Monday and Saturday): The Annunciation, The Visitation, The Nativity, The Presentation, The Finding in the Temple.
Sorrowful Mysteries (Tuesday and Friday): The Agony in the Garden, The Scourging at the Pillar, The Crowning with Thorns, The Carrying of the Cross, The Crucifixion and Death.
